With StrongPass PC Logon for Windows installed, a user can log into his/her account on a Windows computer by scanning a QR code at the logon desktop.  If you have a PC that supports Bluetooth 4.0 (Bluetooth Low Energy), you can use StrongPass Proximity to unlock your computer.

To get started, download and install StrongPass PC Logon for Windows. Once installed, follow the simple steps below to log into a local Windows 10 account. Steps demonstrating how to log into a domain account can be found here.

Local Login Using StrongPass

Lock your computer and the StrongPass PC Logon  QRcode is presented.
Open the StrongPass app on the phone by using your app passcode/gesture and then press the “Scan Now” button on the app to scan the QR Code.
If your PC supports Bluetooth 4.0 BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), the App will prompt you to enable Proximity between the App and StrongPass PC Logon, limited to the particular PC where StrongPass PC Logon is running. This relationship will be added to the Trusted device list on your phone with a status of “Trusted” if you select “Yes”, or “Blocked” if you select “No”. If the PC is listed as “Blocked”, Proximity will not be used and going forward you will need to scan the Authomate QR code instead to login to your PC.

Since this is the first time you are logging into this computer using StrongPass, the StrongPass App will prompt you to add a new account or link to an existing account that uses the same login credentials. If you use the same account credentials to log into more than one machine, it is better to create one account in StrongPass and link all other accounts to that account so that when you change the password, all will be updated together.

If you are using an Android, you will be prompted to ADD NEW ACCOUNT, USE ANOTHER ACCOUNT to link to an existing account or CANCEL. For iOS the prompts are slightly different: Cancel, Add New, or Browse to link to an existing account. For this example, tap ADD NEW ACCOUNT or Add New to create a new Computer account in your StrongPass App.

The app will automatically add the computer name and prompt you to enter the Login ID and Password. Tap SAVE to save the credentials and initiate the login process.
Once the login process is initiated, PC Logon will prompt you to pair your device. If you click Yes, you will be allowed to use proximity with PC Logon. If you click No, you will be blocked from using proximity and must scan QR codes. Use the The Manage Proximity Users for PC Logon utility to view or modify the lists of allowed and blocked users.

These questions won’t be asked again on subsequent uses of PC Logon, unless and until PCLogon is uninstalled/reinstalled, or the user is removed from the blocked list using the Manage Proximity Users  for StrongPass PC Logon.

If you have entered the credentials successfully, StrongPass PC Logon will automatically log you in to your computer.
If you have enabled proximity, the next time you are at the login screen, StrongPass PC Logon will send a Bluetooth message to your app. The app will display a proximity confirmation to log in without having to scan the QRcode.

You have 60 seconds to login using StrongPass. If The QRCode has expired  because time has elapsed, you can refresh the QRcode by clicking  your user name tile, then click on the StrongPass PC Logon tile.

Domain Login Using StrongPass

Lock your computer and the StrongPass PC Logon  QRcode is presented. Select the domain you are logging into from the pull down menu under the QR Code.
Open the StrongPass app on the phone by using your app passcode/gesture and then press the “Scan Now” button on the app to scan the QR Code.

Since this is the first time you are logging into this domain using StrongPass, the StrongPass App will prompt you to add a new account or link to an existing account that uses the same login credentials.

Include the domain as part of the Login ID (e.g. domain\userID). Tap SAVE to save the credentials and initiate the login process.
If you have entered the credentials successfully, StrongPass PC Logon will automatically log you in to your Domain.
