On Windows you can change your password from the System Settings or by pressing Control-Alt-Delete. The first section below shows an example of changing a local account password from the System Settings. The second section shows an example of changing a domain account password using Control-Alt-Delete.

Change A Local Account Password From System Settings

1)  Search for "password" in the task bar, then click to open "Change your password" in System Settings.

2) Select "Password".

3) Click on the "Change" button.

4) When your PC prompts for your password, StrongPass will display a QR Code or Proximity pop-up. Open your StrongPass App and you will see the Change Password prompt. If you do not see the prompt, scan the QR Code on your PC with the App. If you do not see a QR Code, click the "Show QR Code" button.

5) The StrongPass App automatically generates a new strong password. You can use the slider to change the length of the password and/or click on the switch to include special characters. If you prefer, you can clear the field and enter your own password manually. Once you are satisfied with the password, tap on the "Save" button and StrongPass will automatically populate the password fields and complete the password change on your PC.

Change A Domain Account Password Using Control-Alt-Delete

1)  Press Control-Alt-Delete and select "Change a password" from the menu.

2) StrongPass will display a QR Code or Proximity pop-up to change password.

If you do not see a StrongPass pop-up, and instead just see the change password fields, this means that when you installed the StrongPass Components, you did not choose the option to display the StrongPass tile by default for PC Logon. You can enable this option by going to "Add or remove programs" in Windows System Settings, searching for "StrongPass Components", and clicking on the "Modify" button to run the StrongPass Components Installer. Click on the "Options" button, then check the box to show the StrongPass tile. After installation is complete, you can retry changing your password.

3) When you see the StrongPass pop-up on your PC, open your StrongPass App and you will see the Change Password prompt. If you do not see the prompt, scan the QR Code on your PC with the App. If you do not see a QR Code, click the "Show QR Code" button.

The StrongPass App automatically generates a new strong password. You can use the slider to change the length of the password and/or click on the switch to include special characters. If you prefer, you can clear the field and enter your own password manually. Once you are satisfied with the password, tap on the "Save" button and StrongPass will automatically populate the password fields and complete the password change on your PC.

What if the PC rejects my new password?

If the PC rejects your new password, you can revert back to your previous password in the StrongPass App. Click here for an example of how to revert to a previous password. That example is for websites. For this case, you would click on the Computers icon instead of the Sites icon to edit the account for your PC.
