The StrongPass Updater will manage all the StrongPass Windows components. The Updater will manage the initial installs, subsequent upgrades, and uninstalls of StrongPass Components. The updater is supported on following Windows operating systems:

  • 32/64 bit Windows 7, 8.1, and 10 version 1607 or greater. 
  • 32/64 bit Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016

First you need to perform the initial installation of the StrongPass Updater. Once this is complete you can proceed to install/upgrade  the StrongPass components from within the Updater. The Updater downloads the latest files from the Authomate server and installs them on demand or automatically when an upgrade is available.




StrongPass Updater Installation
Proximity Agent
Click on the DOWNLOAD NOW button to download the StrongPass Updater for Windows

Locate the downloaded Authomate  Updater Installer for Windows and launch it and the Authomate Updater Installation Wizard will appear. The Wizard will present a short introduction to the Authomate updater for Windows.

Click Next to continue.


Click on the "Term of Service" button. After reading it, tick the checkbox to accept the license terms and conditions.

Click Next to continue.


You can change the path of the Authomate Updater installation or keep the default.

Click Next to continue.


Click on Install and the Wizard will proceed to install the Authomate Updater.


Click on Yes to complete the Authomate Updater installation.


You have successfully installed the Authomate Updater.

Click on Finish to launch the Authomate Updater to proceed with the installation of StrongPass components.

If no StrongPass components are installed you will be presented with the Install View. If one or more StrongPass components are installed you will be presented with the Update View. This FAQ will assume no components are installed.

With the Install View, all the StrongPass components are checked for installation.

Install Folder: You can change the path of the installation for the selected Authomate Components  or keep the default.

Authomate Server: If you have purchased your own Authomate Server, you can provide the URL or keep the default.

Tick the checkbox to accept the license terms and conditions.



Click the Install checked button to sequentially install the StrongPass components  AppConnect, BT Agent, IE Extension, and PC Logon.


Once all checked components are installed you will be prompted for permission to automatically upgrade the component(s) when an upgrade is available.

Click Yes to continue.


Update View is presented listing all installed components with Automatic Upgraded checked.







StrongPass AppConnect Installation




StrongPass AppConnect enables StrongPass capabilities for Outlook, VPN clients, and a host of other Windows based applications that require a user to enter credentials.

Cick Next to continue


Click on Install to install StrongPass AppConnect.

Click Yes to continue.


Once the installation is complete the Authomate ICON will be placed on your Desktop. You will need to manually launch it to start AppConnect unless the checkbox: "Launch AppConnect when the setup exits" is checked.


Click Finish to dismiss the wizard.





StrongPass BT Agent Installer for Windows


The StrongPass Bluetooth Proximity Agent for the Windows OS allows you to log into your sites just by bringing your smartphone (with StrongPass app installed) close to your Windows machine.


Click Next to continue


Click on Install to install the StrongPass Proximity Agent.

Click Yes to continue.


The StrongPass Windows Proximity Agent is now installed and ready for use.

To get started with Proximity once the Agent is installed, please click here    .

Click Finish to dismiss the wizard.






Installing StrongPass PC Logon for Windows

StrongPass PC Logon for Windows allows you to log into your local, domain, or Azure account on a Windows computer by scanning a QR code on the logon desktop or by using the Proximity feature.

Click Next to continue.


By default, the checkbox for: "Show the StrongPass tile by default upon initial display of the logon screen", is unchecked. If left unchecked, a user at the logon screen will be presented with a series of logon tiles (one of which will be the Authomate tile, "StrongPass PC logon"). The user must then select the one they wish to log in with, with a mouse click.

If the checkbox is checked, the user is saying that they want the "StrongPass PC logon" tile to be pre-selected, so that when a user is at the logon screen, the "StrongPass PC logon" tile will be selected without them having to click on it first.

Click Next to continue.



Click on "Install to install StrongPass PC logon.


Click Yes to finalize the installation.



The StrongPass PC Logon is now installed and ready for use.

Click Finish to dismiss the wizard.






Internet Explorer Browser Extension Installation


Click Next to continue.

Note: IE browser extension is for Windows 7/8/8.1/10


Click on "Install to install the StrongPass IE Extension.

Click Yes to continue.


The StrongPass IE Extension installed and ready for use.

Click Finish to dismiss the wizard.






Firefox Browser Extension Installation


To install the StrongPass Firefox Extension, Click the Get Firefox Extension button.

Note:  If you have a Firefox browser extension version prior to 1.0.1611145, you should manually uninstall it before updating to the latest version.


If you are using Firefox Browser version 57.0 or higher, Firefox will prompt you stating "Firefox prevented the site from asking you to install software on your computer."  To install the StrongPass Firefox extension please click on the "OK" button to dismiss the pop up, then select the URL and hit return to proceed to the next step.

The Firefox Browser will prompt you for your permission to install the extension.


Click on "Allow".

The Firefox Browser will prompt you to Add the StrongPass Extension.


Click on "Add" to install the extension.



The StrongPass Extension for Firefox is now installed and
ready for use.







Chrome Browser Extension Installation


To install the StrongPass Chrome Extension, Click the Get Chrome Extension button.
1) The Chrome Browser will take you to the Authomate StrongPass Extension Chrome Store page. Click the  "ADD TO CHROME" link on the right corner as indicated below.


2) You will be prompted to add the StrongPass Extension. Click on "Add Extension"


3)The StrongPass Extension for Chrome is now installed and ready for use
